Bill Tracy: Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student Award
The Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student award is presented to a student in the University of Maine’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program in educational leadership who has demonstrated a deep dedication to being a steward in the field of education. The recipient understands the importance of connecting theory to practice, addresses inequities through their problem of practice and remains dedicated to their graduate studies to improve outcomes for the communities they serve.
Statement from the Educational Leadership faculty:
Bill Tracy is the 2022 recipient of this award. Bill serves as principal of Hampden Academy in RSU 22 and is an Ed.D. candidate in the Beacon Black Bear cohort. His problem of practice explores critiquing outdated, dysfunctional models of schooling to re-imagine what is best for students to better meet their instructional needs. As a leader in his community, Bill can be found anywhere from the press box of the football field helping spearhead a fundraising activity to the halls of Hampden Academy where he works collaboratively with fellow educators to provide innovative solutions for students facing academic challenges. Bill puts his heart and soul into his work and is a great example of the type of scholarly-practitioner UMaine hopes to support in his ongoing development.
