Susan Thibedeau: Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student Award
The Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student award is presented to a student in the University of Maine’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program in educational leadership who has demonstrated a deep dedication to being a steward in the field of education. The recipient understands the importance of connecting theory to practice, addresses inequities through their problem of practice and remains dedicated to their graduate studies to improve outcomes for the communities they serve.
Statement from the Educational Leadership faculty:
Susan Thibedeau is the 2022 recipient of this award and is part of the first graduating Ed.D. class after the program was re-imagined and relaunched in 2018. A member of the Alpha cohort, Susan is graduating after defending her dissertation that addresses the implementation of equity training in majority white school districts. As the principal of Reeds Brook Middle School in RSU 22, Susan has led by example, specifically by addressing an issue of inequity through her doctorate work that helped lead to more equitable outcomes for all students in her school and school district. Through her work, Susan has provided an incredible roadmap for future Ed.D. cohort members at UMaine to engage and address issues of inequity.
