College of Education and Human Development co-sponsors Literacy Tea event
The University of Maine College of Education and Human Development is again co-sponsoring the annual Literacy Tea organized by Literacy Volunteers of Bangor.
The event will be held Sunday, April 3, from 3–5 p.m. at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor. Children’s book author Mark Scott Ricketts will read from his book “Adventures in Vacationland.” UMaine Associate Professor of Literacy Susan Bennett-Armistead will be a featured speaker.
Bennett-Armistead started the Literacy Tea to honor her late mother-in-law who held a similar event every year in Michigan. Literacy Volunteers took over the event in 2013, with the College of Education and Human Development remaining involved as a major sponsor. It has become the group’s largest fundraiser, bringing in about $17,000 last year.
