Seamus Power

About Me:

Hi, my name is Seamus and I am a Doctoral Intern here at the counseling center. I spent the last few years in Denver but I’m excited to be back on the east coast and look forward to exploring Maine. While I love being active and try to spend time outside with my dog Jimmer, I also enjoy watching a show or reading a book on the couch.

Most embarrassing moment:

I had a tough start to my school career. I was stung by a bee and wet my pants on my first day of 1st grade. Thankfully, it was all uphill from there!

Favorite food:

I am not a “foodie” and eat the same thing almost every day. Maybe I don’t have the same taste abilities as other people? If I have to pick, I really like a slow cooked brisket, but I’m not patient enough to cook that.

If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, were would you go?

I wanted to visit Australia until I learned about all the snakes and spiders. Those are a dealbreaker so I’ll say Iceland. I love being in the mountains in the winter, and want to explore the coastline with all the natural hot springs and geysers.

Professional Credentials and Interests?

I am in the process of finishing my PsyD from The University of Denver. In therapy, I emphasize the therapeutic relational and try to foster strong connections with all of my clients. I find fulfillment working with individuals dealing with a variety of clinical concerns, as well as engaging with students from diverse backgrounds. Over the past few years, my focus has extended to include close work with student athletes, as well as those struggling with feelings of acute anxiety.
