Ella Sulinski

About Me
Hello, my name is Ella. I have lived in Maine my whole life and attended the University of Maine for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My undergraduate degrees are in psychology and women’s gender and sexuality studies. My graduate degree is in social work. After graduating I worked in a community mental health agency for a few years. I’m excited to be back on campus supporting students in meeting their mental health goals. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, being outside, and cooking.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

When I was in middle school we kept our backpacks in the laundry room. This worked well until I walked into my homeroom with my sister’s underwear stuck to the velcro on my binder. That was embarrassing for both of us!

What is your favorite food?

I love all foods but Italian food is my favorite.

If you could take a trip anywhere in the world where would you go?

If I could take a trip anywhere in the world I would choose Italy or Greece.

Professional Credentials and Interests
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). My previous work as a therapist was at a community mental health center where I provided individual and group therapy. I am trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). My training in DBT provides a framework for skill building in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. My training in CBT provides a framework for adjusting unhelpful thoughts that may be a barrier to meeting goals. I feel passionate about meeting people where they are at and highlighting strengths that can assist them in meeting their goals.
