Background and Interests

Emma is interested in exploring how different tools and technologies can be used in learning design to present content in meaningful and effective ways. She also supports processes to make instructional content accessible to students.

When Emma was an undergraduate student she worked in the Peer Relations Lab, studied the Spanish language while abroad in San Sebastián, Spain, and worked at CITL as a Student Media Assistant. Her psychology capstone, “The Relationship between Religion and Coping.” explored the relationship between religious identity and religious coping. Her Instructional Design Practicum, “What is Information Design,” was a project she created to introduce high school students to information design. While completing her Master’s Degree, she worked at CITL as a Brightspace IT Specialist and then moved on to her current role at CITL.

Presentations

Emma presented in roundtable discussions at the 2018 American Sociological Association Honors Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has also given talks to high school film students about what instructional design is and how they can use their video editing skills in this field.
