All alumni may receive one complimentary appointment – this session may be in-person or over the phone. If you wish to pursue more appointments, you can pay a fee of $60.00 for six months of service and up to six individual career counseling/advising sessions. For your convenience, you can now pay online.
Alumni registrants are eligible for virtually all the same services available to currently enrolled students. For example, fee-paid alumni have access to resume/cover letter critiques, career counseling, practice interviews and the Maine Mentor program. In addition, they have access to the multiple job-search resources available in the Career Library. Fee-paid alumni are also eligible to participate in on-campus interviewing.
Career Fairs are also open to alumni.
Employer downsizing and job transitions are common reasons why alumni register for career services. Alums’ substantial work experience can enhance the likelihood that their resumes will be considered by employers seeking job applicants. Registrants can also access employment opportunities via CareerLink. Other listings are available on our Job Listings and Internet Job Searching web pages.
Alumni responsibilities include: keeping file information current, providing the Career Center with updated resumes, giving advance notification if unable to keep counseling appointments, and letting the Career Center know when a career decision has been made and services are no longer required.
Please Note: All students of the University of Maine (Orono) receive one free year of service upon graduation. Example: May 2016 grads receive free services until May 2017. Current students and alumni at UM System schools who are applying to graduate programs in health or legal fields may take advantage of this service.
