No matter the program area, managers at Maine Bound are responsible for attending biweekly
meetings, one on one meetings with supervisors, and helping with bigger picture projects. All
managers will work closely with pro staff to improve and develop future plans for Maine Bound
operations. Managers collaborate with others to successfully complete independent projects that
better current operations. All managers serve a role as mentors and representatives for other
Maine Bound staff, no matter the program area.
Manager Responsibilities/Duties:
● Attend biweekly manager meeting
● Attend 1 on 1 meetings with program supervisor
● Work a 5 hour manager desk shift during weeknights (dependent on staffing)
● Collaborate on bigger picture projects
● Help with event planning and logistics
Social Media Marketing Manager Description:
The primary purpose of this positions is to manage the marketing material and help coordinate all events for Maine Bound Adventure Center. This manager’s main marketing responsibilities are to plan and maintain a steady flow of quality social media content for the Maine Bound Facebook and Instagram accounts, create and distribute posters advertising Maine Bound’s various programs and events, and speak at various university event to promote Maine Bound content.
.The person holding this position may be asked to help plan and promote various Maine Bound events that happen over the course of the school year. The person in this position may be asked to take point on executing some of the Maine Bound events with assistance from Maine Bound professional staff, and other Maine Bound student staff. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the marketing and Events Manager may be asked to work regular Maine Bound staff shifts behind the desk and should be prepared to provide excellent customer service to participants and perform basic Maine Bound staff tasks such as climbing gym check-ins, renting equipment and signing students up for trips.
Social Media Marketing Manager Responsibilities/Duties:
- Operating social media platforms Instagram and Facebook
- Basic grammar skills when writing outreach content on social media platforms, posters,
- and websites, as well as when communicating to parties via email
- Assist in design and content development for Maine Bound Semesterly Catalog
- Speaking at meetings to promote or explain Maine Bound events
- Collaborating with other Maine Bound staff to help provide outreach for trips and events
- Tabling at the Union or on the Mall to promote Maine Bound offerings
- Driving to local businesses with promotional posters for Maine Bound events
- Working with your supervisor to brainstorm new ways to market Maine Bound
- Writing/editing descriptions of Maine Bound events and offerings for the Maine Bound website
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for staff and participants
Qualifications:
- Have a vision for what you hope to make of the position
- Professional attire and behavior
- Knowledge of, and/or interest in, outdoor recreation activities and outdoor education
- Enthusiasm, desire to learn, and desire to work as part of a team
- Ability to develop marketing content independently and with the help of supervisor
- Maintain up to date knowledge about all Maine Bound trips, programs and events
- Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity
- Ability to obtain certifications in Professional Rescuer CPR, Standard First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator
- Ability to work during academic year
- Ability to work during school breaks and holidays (preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Reasonable level of physical fitness
- Standard driver’s license (preferred)
Preferred Skills:
● Professional writing ability, self editing skills
● Photo and video production and editing experience
● Graphic design (Canva etc.)
Pay: $13.50/hour
Work Study / Work Merit: Optional
Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week.
Shift Days/Times: Weekdays, weeknights, and weekends
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes
