email any questions to matt.hawkyard@maine.edu
The workshop provides an opportunity to interact with North American aquaculture nutrition stakeholders from the industry and academia
This is a discussion oriented, informal workshop with emphasis on sharing of data and new ideas. Abstracts are requested to allow topical organization of information.
The meeting will be organized around topical subjects (e.g. feed management and performance, new developments in feed manufacturing, alternative protein and oil sources, modeling of nutrient requirements, interaction of immunity and nutrition, gut health and omics in fish nutrition). This is an exceptional opportunity to meet and interact in an informal setting and discuss the latest in nutrition and feed management.
- There will be a welcome reception (drinks and Hor d’oeuvres on July 11th) after the tours.
- Working breakfasts and lunches will be provided on July 12th and 13th.
- Dinners will be on your own but we’ll have suggestions.
- Tours will be on July 11th to the USDA National Marine Coldwater Aquaculture Center (Franklin, ME), Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research (Franklin, ME) and the UMaine Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory (Orono, ME) – Transportation is provided.

Airport Questions
Bangor International Airport is about 15 minutes from Orono, ME and is the most convenient airport to fly into. Ground transportation to and from the airport is very challenging (see ground transportation below).
Ground Transportation Questions:
To/From Airport: There are no app-based ride share programs in the greater Bangor area (Uber etc). Car rentals are available but may be located off-site so please coordinate directly with the rental car agency to make sure that you will be able to pick up your vehicle at the time you arrive. There are also cab services available in the area but please schedule in advance to ensure your pickup. Cab services in the area typically end at 10 PM so plan accordingly.
We will be offering a limited shuttle service for airport pickup (at pre scheduled times). If you’re interested in the shuttle, please fill out the questionnaire to indicate your arrival and departure times. We’ll use this information to schedule shuttles to meet the needs of most. We will also be offering a shuttle between the Wells Conference Center on main campus and the Black Bear Inn at the beginning and end of each day.
