Students Attend 2018 NWSA Annual Meeting
Senior WGS majors Ashlee Atchinson and Meghan Frisard recently had the opportunity to attend the Annual Meeting of the National Women’s Studies Association in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2018. Here’s what they have to say about their experience:
Meghan says, “My biggest take away is that there are so many avenues and aspects of life to which feminism can be applied. I attended workshops that discussed everything from abortion to sex work to pharmacology to social media movements, and each of them provided a unique aspect of a new type of feminism. I also was able to see how much research there still is to be done; it often feels as though so many people are contributing to the knowledge base, and that there is no work left to be done, but there is SO much work left to be done. I also felt very comforted, being surrounded by people who were able to find careers and lives within feminism and academia in the way that I hope to do.”
