Community Outreach
The School of Economics continuously conducts public outreach efforts through research and collaborative partnerships with university institutions and outside stakeholders of economic development agencies, municipalities, and a variety of organizations.
Outreach Partners
The Maine Development Foundation (MDF) is a private, non-partisan membership organization that drives sustainable, long-term economic growth for the state of Maine. MDF’s strategic focus is a productive workforce that is educated, healthy, innovative, and engaged in their community and the economy. Visit MDF’s website at www.mdf.org for more information. SOE’s partners with MDF in producing quarterly economic research reports and MDF provided internship opportunities for SOE students.
SOE has a new partnership with the Bangor Daily News: Maine Focus by producing monthly applied research and policy briefs relevant to Maine.
Whether we’re directly involved in a particular project, such as having faculty conduct economic impact assessments for the private-public sector or giving valuable consultations to individuals and organizations involved in the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension–the School of Economics prides itself on its ability to effectively conduct outreach to a variety of stakeholders.
