Before Pangea Geoheritage Corridor

Abstract: We seek funds to support a senior geology research project in west-central Maine, which in turn contributes to Dr. Reusch’s approved Spring 2018 sabbatical project to develop a field guide for the Quebec City-Maine transect of the Appalachians. These closely related efforts will serve as a springboard to propose a “Before Pangea” Geoheritage Corridor. Similar outreach projects such as the Ice Age Trail between Bar Harbor and Calais and Stonehammer Geopark in New Brunswick are a boon to tourism and help to educate the public about the literal foundation of their economy.
