Maine Monitor interviews Birkel on above average summer forecasts
The Maine Monitor interviewed Maine State Climatologist Sean Birkel, also a research assistant professor at the University of Maine, on average summer temperatures in Maine and their variability. “When the air is more humid, that’s when we’ll get the overnight low temperatures that are in the mid- to high 60s, and so it makes for uncomfortable sleeping and our bodies don’t cool off as much,” said Birkel, who holds a joint appointment with the UMaine Climate Change Institute and University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
