BDN highlights UMaine Extension Tick Lab for report on tick-borne diseases

The Bangor Daily News highlighted the work of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Tick Lab to test submitted ticks for disease. The lab has received 1,700 samples this year, which is less than the 2,000 submitted by this same time last year. Griffin Dill, Tick Lab manager and integrated pest management professional with UMaine Extension, said the sample number is in line with previous years and ticks are still active despite high temperatures. June and July are the highest-risk months for Lyme disease and the past two years had rising case numbers for adults over 65.
