Information from UMaine Extension cited by Tasting Table
An informational webpage from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension on the role of ethylene in ripening fruit was cited in a listicle by Tasting Table titled, “10 hacks that will help ripen fruit much faster.” The article states that placing a ripe apple with other fruits will help them to ripen faster, which the UMaine Extension webpage adds is especially true for McIntosh apples that produce more ethylene, a gas that ripens fruit, than other types of apples.
