Press Herald highlights UMaine researchers’ work with NASA satellite
Research from University of Maine professor of oceanography Emmanuel Boss and professor of marine sciences Damian Brady to collect ocean data using a NASA satellite was highlighted by the Portland Press Herald. The PACE satellite will be in space for three years to collect the most detailed data on record about the color and health of the ocean by measuring how the sun interacts with tiny particles at the surface. The data can give insight on a global scale about how climate change is affecting the ocean, with potential for local impact from identifying areas best suited for oysters or scallops to predicting migration patterns of whales.
