Richlin writes research piece for The Conversation on vaccine skepticism

University of Maine assistant professor of anthropology Johanna Richlin wrote an article for The Conversation titled “Vaccine-skeptical mothers say bad health care experiences made them distrust the medical system,” which was based on research she had conducted. Richlin, who studies how beliefs and feelings circulate in American society, interviewed vaccine-skeptical mothers about their perceptions of new and existing vaccines. Richlin said the mothers’ answers were more complicated than vaccine skepticism has been portrayed, and their personal stories showed how the U.S. healthcare system has historically failed women. Slate, CT Insider, the Houston ChronicleThe Maryville Forum, Yahoo! News, SFGate, BigNewsNetwork.com, Maine Morning Star and other media shared the article.
