Engineering students constructing building for Old Town Fire Department

The University of Maine Construction Engineering Technology (CET) program is building a small facility for the Old Town Fire Department as part of a service learning project.

The project was coordinated by the Student Construction Association and serves as a final assignment for CET 228 — Intro to Construction Estimating and Planning.

The Old Town Fire Department recently restored an original fire engine and needed a building to display and store it. The students are collaborating with the department to match the original building that was on-site many years ago.

The fire department is supplying the building materials for construction May 1–4.
