UMaine researchers present at AAAS annual meeting
Three University of Maine faculty — Heather Leslie, Sydne Record and Brenda Hall — spoke at the annual meeting for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) on Feb. 14. AAAS is the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society and a leading publisher of cutting-edge research.
Leslie, professor of marine science who was named a AAAS Fellow in 2022 — one of the highest honors in the scientific community, delivered a talk titled “Social-Ecological Systems Science in Support of Ecosystem-Based Management.” Record, associate professor of land conservation, gave a presentation titled “Leveraging a Network of Networks to Enable Innovations in Macroecology.” Hall, professor of quaternary and glacial geology, delivered a talk titled “Southern Elephant Seal Mummies Reveal a Warm Past in the Ross Sea, Antarctica.”
