Claudia Torres
Claudia has a bachelor’s degree in architecture, a masters in architectural engineering, and
professional experience spanning project management, nonprofit organization management,
and sustainability. She moved to Orono with her family in 2018 after several years living in The
Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
Claudia was born and raised in Mexico City. Since she was a child, her parents instilled in her
an interest and passion for traveling and learning different languages. Besides Spanish, she has
learned English, French and Danish.
After living in 5 different countries and having a multicultural family, Claudia has gained a
deeper understanding and appreciation for different cultures and languages.
In addition to learning and teaching languages, her interests include architecture, affordable
housing, and sustainable design; urbanism and contemporary architecture in Latin America; as
well as immigration, identity, and cultural diversity.
