Announcing the Robert N. Rioux Scholarship for French majors
The University of Maine Department of Modern Languages and Classics is announcing the first award specifically tailored for French students in university history, the Robert N. Rioux Scholarship Fund.
Robert Rioux was a professor of French at the University of Maine from 1959 to 1990, during which time he devoted his career to the creation of a curriculum for Franco-American studies and the introduction of French-Canadian language and literature in the Department of Modern Languages and Classics. Originally established to support travel study courses in Québec, Dr. Rioux’s family requested that this scholarship be changed to assistance for students majoring in French.
