Foster Center for Student Innovation

The Foster Center is UMaine’s hub of innovation and acts as a resource for commercialization and innovation for state, campus, and some businesses and organizations. It serves as a base for many UMaine programs and services that support entrepreneurship, business development, and commercialization of university research. There are academic courses related to innovation which are open to both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as a student business incubator. The Foster Center has created an innovation curriculum that has been adopted by other Universities and companies across the world. Students can pursue a minor in, or earn a certificate or micro-credential in innovation. The Center provides courses, training, coaching, and consulting to students, faculty, startups, and established organizations, helping them develop the skills necessary to create, test, actualize, and implement ideas.
