Dr. Darren Ranco was featured in an interview by The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in an article titled, “Fellow and Activist Scholar Builds Bridges,” on February 27, 2020.

Dr. Ranco is a citizen of the Penobscot Nation, Mitchell Center faculty fellow, as well as Associate Professor of Anthropology and Chair of Native American Programs at UMaine. In the interview he describes the relationship between the Penobscot Nation and UMaine, how it has changed over time, and potential future steps.

When asked about how to tackle this work as an “activist scholar,” Ranco says, “My overall suggestion is to start small and have some success and build trust.”
