Madeline Sayet, “Indigenous Shakespeares”

Award winning Mohegan director and Visiting Libra Professor Madeline Sayet will discuss the historical relationship between Native peoples and Shakespearean performance, and how Native artists have used Shakespearean productions as a tool to reclaim their voices and empower theNative Theater movement. The event will take place on October 17, 2019, at 4:30pm in the Fernald APPE space in the IMRC.

Madeline is the Executive Director of the Yale Indigenous Performing Arts Program (YIPAP), a TED Fellow, and was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 in Hollywood & Entertainment in 2018. She recently received critical acclaim for her solo show “Where We Belong” at Shakespeare’s Globe in London.
