Masoud Rais-Rohani: Non-Deterministic Design Approaches Research

The goal of this research is to develop and apply design optimization techniques to structural systems subject to uncertainty with design constraints defined using probability, reliability index or evidence-based plausibility formulation.

By modeling the effects of underlying uncertainties in an ISV-based damage model, a reliability-based design optimization approach is used for optimizing the shape and size of a vehicle component under multiple dynamic loading conditions.
