I moved from Ohio in 2015 to pursue a M.S. with Dr. Susan Brawley at the School of Marine Sciences.  Currently I am working on microbiome research on the red alga Porphyra umbilicalis, a common but intriguing intertidal organism.  Many algal species have associated bacteria that can be both beneficial and harmful.  The microbiome project involves determinig what bacteria associate with P. umbilicalis, and if these associates vary with changes in season, temperature, etc.
