Description
I use my knowledge in oceanography and skills in software programming to study marine organisms. My research at the University of Maine focuses on Japanese eel larval migration and what causes Japanese glass eel recruitment to fluctuate from year to year. By analyzing how current strength and position respond to the climate and affect larval transport, I link Japanese eel recruitment to climate variability. As a graduate student at Duke University, I implemented an algorithm to detect mesoscale eddies in the western North Atlantic and related longline tuna and swordfish catch to eddy structures.
