Research: Both of my research projects center around soft-shell clams (Mya arenaria), the second most valuable commercially harvested species in Maine. My biology project explores the potential of calcium-carbonate addition to increase settlement of larvae onto a mudflat and is currently in the analysis phase. My policy project focuses on exploring the co-management system that involves both the state’s Department of Marine Resources and local municipalities to share responsibility for resource management. As a dual-degree student, I strive to blend both the policy and biology approaches to synthesize the most comprehensive understanding of the resource that is possible.
