Abigail Skena
Abigail Skena is excited to contribute to the Leslie Lab’s ecological research areas as a summer 2024 intern. Abigail is a fourth year undergraduate student at Boston University studying Earth and Environmental Sciences, with minors in Biology and Marine Science. She is passionate about environmental science research, marine science research, ecological restoration & conservation, and developing climate-forward solutions for coastal cities in a changing world. Under graduate student Sarah Risley’s mentorship, she is diving into intertidal wild oyster research in the Damariscotta River Estuary, hoping to enhance scientific research practices with the addition of local ecological knowledge mapping. She loves fieldwork equally as much as lab work, and is eager to continue contributing to the impactful work at the Leslie Marine Conservation Science Lab and UMaine’s Darling Marine Center.
