University of Maine 3+3 Agreement with University of Maine School of Law

UMaine students who plan to pursue a law degree can enroll in UMaine’s new 3+3 program with the University of Maine School of Law.

This accelerated program allows you to earn a bachelor’s degree from UMaine and a law degree (Juris Doctor or J.D.) from Maine Law in just six years total.

Enrolling in the program can save you one full year of tuition and a full year of undergraduate study. Our 3+3 students will have access to 3+3 undergraduate advising at UMaine, and to Maine Law’s Office of Admissions and its programs.

Interested students should contact the 3+3 undergraduate advisor no later than the spring of their sophomore year. Students enrolled in the 3+3 program apply to Maine Law in the fall of their junior year of undergraduate study. Successful applicants begin their first year of law school during their fourth year of undergraduate study.
