Description:  Traces the transformation of the United States into a modern nation by exploring themes of industrialization, urbanization, immigration, politics, and imperial outreach. Particularly focuses on the contest of power between so-called “Robber Barons”, or industrial leaders, and the reformers and radicals who challenged their vision for the nation.

General Education Requirements: Satisfies the Western Cultural Tradition requirement.
