Description:  Examines the political, economic, and social history of South Africa from 1652 to the present. Emphasis on race relations from the establishment of the Cape Colony to the fall of Apartheid. Explores European colonization, the formation of the Zulu Empire, the South African War, and the birth of the New South Africa.

General Education Requirements: Satisfies the Social Contexts and Institutions and Cultural Diversity and International Perspectives requirements.

Prerequisites: HTY 106 or HTY 112 or permission.
