 ArcGIS Online

  • ArcGIS Online allows you to build maps, analyze data, create web apps with your maps, and work collaboratively with the use of sharing.

Brightspace

  • Brightspace is the learning management system that is widely used across all University of Maine campuses.
  • To Login: Navigate to UMaine Portal and access Brightspace via the Launchpad inside the portal.

Google Apps for Ed

  • Calendar – Manage your time and share your schedule with others with Google Calendar. Set up appointments and even video calls and invite others to join you!
  • Docs, Sheets, Sides – Google has created a cloud-based version of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint! Docs, Sheets, and Slides allow you to collaborate on projects in real-time.
  • Drive – Google Drive is Google’s cloud storage service. All UMS students and Faculty have unlimited storage space with Google!
  • Forms – Create questionnaires, quizzes, or signup sheets using Google Forms!
  • Gmail – Gmail is the email service that is widely used by the University of Maine System. It has many features for organization and customization.
  • Meet – Google Meet allows users to talk, text, and video call individuals or groups!
  • Sites – Google Sites allows you to create and edit web pages even if you are not familiar with HTML. Build sites from scratch or templates and upload content easily with this free service!

Qualtrics

  • Qualtrics is Web-based survey software available for use by all UMaine Faculty, Students and Staff to support teaching and research at UMaine. Surveys can be created and distributed by anyone with a UMaine PeopleSoft account.

The University of Maine has institutional licenses for various programs that are available for download by faculty and students.

Adobe Creative Cloud

       It is installed on many computers around campus including (but not limited to):

  • Fogler Library Computer Cluster
  • Collaborative Media Lab
  • Lord 311

Contact your department to see if Adobe Creative Cloud is installed on their public computers!

Mathematica

  • Wolfram Mathematica a symbolic mathematical computation program or CAS program developed by Wolfram and used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields.

MathWorks MatLab

  • Install MathWorks MatLab on your computer! The download is available to Faculty, Staff, and Students.

Microsoft Office

  • Download Microsoft Office for your personal, or university-owned computer.

Solidworks

  • 3D CAD design and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software

SPSS

  • SPSS is available for Faculty, Staff, and Students affiliated with UMaine to install on personal or University-owned computers.

Zoom

  • Zoom is a web conferencing platform for web meetings, eLearning, and webinars.
  • To Login: Navigate to Zoom and sign in with your UMS (@maine.edu) userID and password.
