INT 196 Academic & Career Exploration Field Experience
Field experience for students seeking to explore their academic and career interests. Prior approval of the field experience is required and will be based on a detailed written plan and documentation presented by the student and approved by the student’s Faculty Advisor and the Career Center staff. Open to all students (except first-year, first semester students) in all majors as well as students with undeclared majors who are in good academic standing. Prerequisite: permission. Credits: 1-3. Grade may be Pass/Fail OR a letter grade. Course may be repeated for a maximum of 6 credits.
Students may not enroll in this course and receive academic credit after the internship has been completed OR once the add/drop period for the semester has ended.
- A Prior Approval Form with an attached learning contract must be completed and turned into the Career Center, 300 Memorial Union, along with an INT 196 Registration Form and Prior Approval Form.
- The course is a “by permission only” course so students must complete the required steps to enroll in the course. Enrollment will be done by the instructor or by the student’s Associate Dean once the student has been approved for the course and has obtained all necessary signatures.
- Upon completion of INT 196, the student will meet with the faculty advisor for a review and evaluation of how well the student met the learning contract requirements; the faculty advisor will then recommend a grade for INT 196 to the instructor. The instructor will post the grade to Student Records.
- INT 196 is offered during the fall and spring semesters and during summer session.
