Sandy & Bobby Ives Research Award – Deadline April 29!

Full-time UMaine students can apply for a grant of $500 to support research, conference travel, or ethnographic fieldwork training relating to the fields of ethnography, oral history, folklore, or regional studies of Maine or the Maritime Provinces of Canada.

To apply submit the following items via email to Liam Riordan.  Review of applications will begin April 29, 2016.

  1. CV or resume
  2. 750-word statement that explains how you would use this grant in its intended manner (see below for more information)
  3. a short itemized budget of anticipated expenses to be paid by grant funds
  4. name and email address of a UMaine faculty member who has agreed to recommend you for this grant

The Sandy and Bobby Ives Fund has three main purposes:

  • to support ethnographic or oral history fieldwork in Maine or the Maritime Provinces of Canada
  • to support participation in regional and national academic conferences pertaining to ethnography, folklore, oral history, and regional studies
  • to support hands-on training in ethnographic fieldwork methodology through participation in accredited field school or similar programs

All full-time UMaine students are eligible, preference will be given to undergraduates.
