This spring semester, internationally renowned Canadian composer Barry Truax, Professor Emeritus at Simon Fraser University, is offering a free online course in octophonic (8-channel) soundscape composition. The course surveys the theory, history, and emerging practice of soundscape composition.
The sessions run for 11 weeks from January 8 through April 2, 2025, from 1:30-4pm EST, with a two week break in February (Feb. 12 & 19). With the support of the Department of Art and the IMRC, Lindsey French and Nate Aldrich will host these sessions in IMRC 103, and invite students, faculty, and staff across the university to join us for this opportunity.
