Cloud partner update: TACC officially migrated to new “Ranch” system

In March of 2019, the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) a partner of UMaine Advanced Research Computing, announced a migration to a new archive system named “Ranch.” The older system was officially decommissioned as of December 1, 2020.

Please note the following:

  • All data newer than March 25, 2019 is already in the new Ranch system and does not require migration.
  • PIs with older data from students who have moved on may contact TACC for assistance by submitting a ticket via the TACC User Portal or XSEDE User Portal.
  • The old Ranch system was officially decommissioned on December 1, 2020.
  • Post decommission, TACC cannot guarantee access to the older data as availability of the old Ranch system will be provided on a best-effort basis.

See this Ranch TACC User News announcement for more information on the new Ranch archive system and migration of data from the old to new archival systems. In addition, information on how to most effectively use the new Ranch archive can be found in the Ranch User Guide.

If users have any questions or concerns, they may contact UMaine ARC at um.arc@maine.edu or may submit questions via the TACC User Portal or XSEDE User Portal.
