NSBE events are aimed at promoting the academic and professional development, as well as leadership skills of members. We also organize events directed towards giving back to the community, enhancing cohesiveness and tolerance, and improving the physical well being of the community.

NSBE conventions present unique opportunities for networking with executives and representatives of a wide range of companies, professors and representatives of colleges, universities and research institutes all over the world, as well as peers and students from diverse backgrounds and universities all over the globe. They serve as an avenue to benefit from the unique experiences each of these groups of peoples mentioned above have. NSBE conventions are the only events of its kind that bring together talented personalities of extraordinary caliber and offer such unique opportunities for students to mingle with them.

NSBE conventions also feature very large career fairs with hundreds of companies in attendance, including a large number of Fortune 500 companies. High school and college students likewise have the opportunity to do their college and/or graduate school hunting at NSBE conventions. Top-ranked colleges and graduate schools are ever-present and participate in the college and graduate school fairs organized at these conventions. This provides students with the opportunity to find a new job while at the same time searching for schools to advance their education. Top candidates get interviewed during the convention and many are able to complete their search right there at the convention.

In addition, NSBE offers many academic and professional development seminars at the convention. The themes of these seminars range from mentoring and resume writing to career success and college success tips.
