Newspaper Reports Sally Jacobs’ Passing

The Bangor Daily News published an article about former UMaine biochemistry professor and longtime conservationist Sally Jacobs of Orono, who passed away Nov. 12. Jacobs, who taught at UMaine for 35 years after moving to the state in the early 1960s, advocated for conservation and is credited with establishing several significant bicycle trails, including the 85-mile Sunrise Trail between Ellsworth and Calais, and locally, on the banks of the Stillwater River and on the University of Maine campus.
