Sociology Student In Report On Teen Foster Care Conference

A Bangor Daily News story about Wednesday’s Teen Conference for Youth in Care, which was held at UMaine, noted that UMaine student Shannon Johnson of Limington was one of the emcees for the conference that highlighted teenagers in foster care. Johnson, who is studying sociology and legal studies, said teens aging out of foster care should be encouraged to advocate with the system to continue to protect the interests of children in foster care. Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who himself was in the foster system as a teenager, spoke at the conference.
