Key to meeting the objectives of the University of Maine’s ADVANCE project, and broader NSF diversity goals, is facilitating the professional development of women faculty. Initiatives include mentoring, training, topical workshops and presentations, time management offerings, and grant funding that supports research, the formation of new collaborations, and professional skill development.
Additionally, the President Susan J. Hunter Fund, an endowment established to honor UMaine’s first woman president, will provide funding for professional development, with preference given to women and underrepresented minority faculty.
