I am pleased to announce that Dean Emily Haddad has appointed Associate Professor of WGS and English Elizabeth Neiman as the next WGS Program Director. Congratulations to Elizabeth who has been a devoted member of the WGS program at the University of Maine for more than 10 years. Her long experience in the program, on the WGS Advisory Council, and her research and teaching specialties in a range of feminist and gender subjects will be an advantage to the program and its future at UMaine.
The last WGS Program Department meeting for AY22 will be devoted to a conversation with Elizabeth about her vision and goals. WGS is an interdisciplinary program whose vitality depends on our faculty and community affiliates across the University of Maine. All WGS Affiliates are welcome to attend our Wednesday, May 4, 12:00 pm meeting. Following opening remarks by Elizabeth, WGS faculty will have the opportunity to share their ideas about the past and future of the program. We will be meeting at the time set aside for the last Feminist Pedagogy Circle Meeting, Wednesday, May 4, from 12:00 – 12:50 pm.
Our meeting can be Zoom or hybrid. The Zoom link is
If there are faculty who prefer a hybrid option which allows them to meet on campus and in person with Elizabeth and colleagues, please let WGS Administrative Specialist Kelly Brown know.
