Before coming to the University of Maine I completed an Americorps program at the Ennis National Fish Hatchery in southwest Montana where I performed many of the duties of a hatchery biologist. This summer I am applying those skills to my work in the Wahle lab, where I help rear lobster larvae for use in experiments exploring their place in the ecosystem and their future in a changing environment.

Marine science is a lifelong passion of mine and I take every opportunity to explore the oceans, whether that’s skin diving through schools of herring in the Gulf of Maine or SCUBA diving in the vibrant tropical seas of Indonesia. Explorations like these brought me to Maine where I began work on my second bachelor’s degree–a BS in Marine Science. This internship is a continuation of that work and forms an integral piece of my evolving career. I greatly anticipate contributing to the important research that the Wahle lab is conducting, as well as using the skills and experience I gain to augment my degree and future pursuits.
