VEMI Lab Undergrads Awarded Research and Creative Activity Fellowships
The VEMI Lab is excited to announce that two of its members were recently awarded Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Fellowships from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Maine. Toni Kaplan received funding for her project entitled “Evaluation of Virtual Reality Simulation as a Supplemental Treatment in Cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder,” which will explore the use of virtual reality in conjunction with light therapy as an improved method of treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder, variations of which affect up to 16-20% of college students in the Northeast. Additionally, Brenden Peters received funding for his project, “Dynamic Motion Control: Networked Control Software and Expanded Physical Capabilities for Virtual Environment Motion Feedback Devices,” which you can read more about in this earlier news blurb regarding his Maine Space Grant Consortium Fellowship award.
