East Central Franklin
Welcome to East Central Franklin!
The unorganized territory of East Central Franklin consists of the townships of Reddington, Mt. Abram, Salem, Freeman, and Madrid. Salem, Freeman, and Madrid were all towns once but disincorporated over the past century. Its proximity to better-known destinations in nearby towns, including Sugarloaf and Saddleback ski resorts, Bigelow Preserve, and the many beautiful lakes make East Central Franklin an easy and wonderful addition to any visit to the area.

- The section of the Trail that passes through East Central Franklin provides access to Saddleback Mountain, Spaulding Mountain, and Mount Abraham.

- This strenuous, 3.8-mile hike to the summit of Mount Abraham, one of Maine’s 4,000 peaks, offers a boulder scramble and access to a sizeable alpine zone.

- This series of cascades conveniently located just off Route 4 is a great place to take a break, sit on the rocks, have a picnic, or just enjoy the beauty of the falls.
- Smalls Falls Main St, East Central Franklin, ME 04970
- This excellent rest stop offers a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole, great picnic spots, and a nice walking trail.
