Welcome to Washburn!

Welcome to Washburn

The beautiful town of Washburn was incorporated in 1861 and named after the governor of Maine at that time, Israel Washburn. Lumber and farming, largely of potatoes, drew more settlers to the area, and they remain important industries for the working people of Washburn today. The town also boasts access to the Aroostook River and other great outdoor activities, vast working farmland, beautiful historical buildings, and a quaint village area.
