Fort Fairfield is home to an Amish community that we here at Undiscovered Maine also highly recommend you visit. You can explore their old-fashioned industrious world and shop their handmade crafts, foods, and furniture.

Golf

- “It is at the Aroostook Valley Country Club where the Stars and Stripes and Maple Leaf fly side by side.” This golf course is actually both in the US and Canada, and is surrounded by beautiful rural landscapes and the Aroostook River. “The golf course and clubhouse are in Four Falls, New Brunswick, while the main entrance, parking lot and pro shop are in Fort Fairfield.” (Bangor Daily News). Because it is also in Canada, you will need your passport to access the golf course.
Hiking

- Fort Fairfield is the last United States point on the International Appalachian Trail and offers plenty of opportunities for visitors and residents to hike and see the beautiful scenery that Aroostook County offers.

- This museum is a replica built in 1976 of the original structure which served to prevent the transport of lumber into Canada during the 1839 “Bloodless Aroostook War.”

- This museum features a display of locomotive and cars with a refurbished sleeping-dining car used for events and gourmet dinners.

- This church was built in 1859 by the Haines family and Quakers who were also part of the Underground Railroad before and during the Civil War.

- The McIntosh School was built in 1848 before the other public buildings in the area, so it was also used for town meetings, social gatherings, church services, weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Today they host school groups and tours, with the original layout still in place.

- This park is a great picnic spot because of its scenic location on the Aroostook River, covered picnic tables, charcoal grills, and adjacent playground.

- This Carnegie Library was built in 1913 and has about 18,000 books, a community room, and a kitchenette.

Waterfront: Beaches, Swimming, Boating, Fishing

- This river goes through Fort Fairfield and much of Aroostook County, and there are various access points including at the Riverside Pavilion Park located on the river and the Aroostook River Boat Launch.

- Monson Pond has public access near the Fort Fairfield Frontier Fish and Game Club with a boat landing and spots great for swimming and fishing.

- Pool open during the summer, free to all residents that also has lessons and a swim team.

- This lake was discovered by Olof Nylander in 1925 as a lime deposit.
