Blue Crew was established 3 years ago as a volunteer service group here at the University of Maine. In May of 2017, 16 students completed a trip to the rural villages of the Peruvian Amazon, visiting the local library, homes and medical clinic. The following year, in June of 2018 twenty students travelled to Ghana, Africa in two seperate groups, one of which volunteered providing malaria testing and treatment in the medical clinic, while the second spent time with a local orphanage helping with cooking and cleaning and care of the children.

The intentions of this organization are to work towards bridging the gap between underdeveloped and developed countries. Our purpose is not only to directly benefit the communities we visit through philanthropic work and donations, but to use our experiences to shape future inspiration and opportunities. We aim to establish a sustainable organization that may continue our work and to spark dialogue within our own communities, encouraging more individuals to create a platform for service.
