UMaine Speech Therapy Telepractice team gave a presentation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, MA. The telepractice team presented two papers about telepractice individual and group therapy for clients with aphasia at the ASHA convention in Orlando, Florida. Telepractice Program Receives Grant

Judy Walker, an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders received a grant of $174,000. from the Next Generation Foundation of Maine to support the expansion of an innovative graduate-level training program in speech therapy telepractice.

2014 Aphasia Retreat

Several graduate students and clients and their families involved in speech therapy telepractice attended the 3rd Annual Andre R. Telepractice Training Workshop at Minot State University

Judy Walker taught a two-day telepractice workshop to faculty and students in the Dept. of Communication Disorders, Minot State University, North Dakota. The focus of the workshop was in building a graduate level telepractice training program in their department.

Telepractice Communication Groups

UMaine’s speech therapy telepractice program offers communication group for clients with aphasia.  Several clients and their family members can join the group from any location in the state.  Participation in the telepractice groups builds relationships and an enhanced sense of community.
