She graduated in 2014 with a double BA in Physics and Earth & Oceanographic Sciences. Karina then obtained her MS in Earth Sciences from Dartmouth College, where she studied how changes in summertime climate are increasing melt-water production on the Greenland Ice Sheet. Based on her love of climate science and concern about anthropogenic climate change, Karina developed an interest in sustainability and climate change mitigation. She joined the UMaine Office of Sustainability in 2017 as the Sustainability Outreach Coordinator, and in 2018 she assumed the role of Sustainability Coordinator. Karina coordinates campus sustainability initiatives, reporting, and outreach activities to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the UMaine campus and community.
